Culture in Sneek

With the new Cultural Quarter Sneek, consisting of a new theatre, a centre for the Arts and a pop music venue, the town council aims at attracting more tourists to Sneek and to offer its own citizens a more extensive cultural programme.

The Sneek town council - in collaboration with the Centre for the Arts and the Cultural Manager - is creating a Cultural Quarter in the Sneek centre. This is where music, dance, visual arts, theatre, art and literature will all come together.

Many cultural events are organised in Sneek. The ‘ring riding’ in Friesian horse-drawn carriages, the ‘Elfstedentocht’ (for instance by bicycle, boat, scooter, or motorbike) and ‘Skûtsjesilen’ are part of the cultural heritage of Friesland and thus of Sneek.
